she was shooting between the lines
Often during my photo shoots, I think of many of my flickr friends, saying, "Oh, this is an artsyevie shot" or "This makes me think of Maggie" or . . . "Tammy would be going crazy right now trying to capture that hawk in the woods." Sometimes I can’t wait to post a piece which was possibly shot together with a flickr contact. Goodness knows I have a file of 4Real shots just waiting to be uploaded! And, of course, A DAY WOULDN’T BE COMPLETE without hearing from my sweet, dear Yu-Fen, the wisest voice on flickr! I could go on and on….so please don’t be offended if I don’t keep listing all of you who mean so much to me. I don’t want to put you into categories, because you are all so fantastically well-rounded and versed.

Flickr has become such an important part of my life, and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all of you who have stuck with me and held my hand on days such as this! Sometimes I think of our highschool yearbooks and the word associations which accompanied our pictures! Do you think we should all post our HS pictures and descriptions!!! My guess is that Maggie would have been voted *the most sophisticated* in her class!

“Simplicity is making the journey of this life with just baggage enough.”

The Centre Ivanhoe – Ivanhoe, Victoria AU

The Centre Ivanhoe - Ivanhoe, Victoria AU
Opened in April 1937, the building was designed by architectural firm Peck & Kemter in association with A.C. Leith & Bartlett for the Heidelberg City Council (now Banyule City Council) and was influenced by the Hilversum Town Hall in the Netherlands. It is recorded as a “Heritage place” by Heritage Victoria who regard it as "the greatest and most eloquent expression of the interwar brick Moderne style in Victoria."
The words “Town" and "Hall” are incised into the wall, either side of the emblem, above three windows, covered by decorative metal tracery grilles. The front doors are flanked by cypress trees, a fitting selection as their tall, thin shape blends with the verticality of the building.
The ninety foot high Clock Tower serves as a focal point for the City of Banyule and surrounding districts. Each side of the tower contains a green neon illuminated clock face.
This Clock Tower is dedicated to the memory of King George V, who died in 1936, the year before the Centre opened.

Classroom Management That Works: Research-Based Strategies for Every Teacher
How does classroom management affect student achievement? What techniques do teachers find most effective? How important are schoolwide policies and practices in setting the tone for individual classroom management? In this follow-up to What Works in Schools, Robert J. Marzano analyzes research from more than 100 studies on classroom management to discover the answers to these questions and more. He then applies these findings to a series of “Action Steps”–specific strategies that educators can use to
• Get the classroom management effort off to a good start, • Establish effective rules and procedures, • Implement appropriate disciplinary interventions, • Foster productive student-teacher relationships, • Develop a positive “mental set,” • Help students contribute to a positive learning environment, and • Activate schoolwide measures for effective classroom management. Marzano and his coauthors Jana S. Marzano and Debra Pickering provide real stories of teachers and students in classroom situations to help illustrate how the action steps can be used successfully in different situations. In each chapter, they also review the strengths and weaknesses of programs with proven track records. With student behavior and effective discipline a growing concern in schools, this comprehensive analysis is a timely guide to the critical role of classroom management in student learning and achievement.
